WINSOR SCHOOL INC
Mission Statement
The Single Parent Family Outreach (SPFO) 3rd Annual 5K walk/run will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Back Bay Fens course. Last year 300 people came out to support us, including Winsor students, faculty and staff, alumnae, families and friends. This year we are hoping to have at least 400 participants. All proceeds will benefit SPFO, a Brookline-based nonprofit that “provides a haven where families can be supported to meet their everyday needs,” the organization’s website explains. The race proceeds will help out with all aspects of the organization’s programs, from providing annual Thanksgiving baskets to families to providing a clothes closet to tutoring. As heads of a Winsor community-service club, the junior trio lead a group of student volunteers every month to run children’s activities that enable local parents to participate in SPFO’s adult programs at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Roxbury. Winsor’s mother-daughter team of Clarissa Marshall and Tiffany Young advise the club together. “Single Parent Family Outreach has truly enriched my life,” says Becca. “I look forward to going every month, and I love getting to know the families.” Schuyler echoes that point, adding that “every time I walk into the Reggie Lewis Center I am overwhelmed by the warmth.” Isabel first took part in eighth grade, and says that she knew from that first day that she’d found her niche. “The members welcome us with open arms, sometimes very literally, and it makes me feel genuinely wanted and as though I am part of the organization myself,” she says. Our goal is not only to support the SPFO community but also” to bring the whole Winsor community together.” We are asking you for your help with a donation to this great cause and Thank you for supporting our efforts to raise funds for SPFO. If you have any questions please feel free to call me anytime.
