FRIENDS WAY is the only child and family bereavement center in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Our mission is to provide a haven for healing and hope to children and families mourning the death of a loved one. FRIENDS WAY provides peer-based support groups for children and families and a specialized camp experience for grieving children and teens. In addition, because experts validate the need for having support available in schools and age-appropriate bereavement support tools for educators (Brock, Lazurus & Jimerson, 2002), FRIENDS WAY provides crisis counseling, consultation and other trainings in community and school settings.
