DEER CREEK CHORALE
Mission Statement
The Deer Creek Chorale (DCC) is a Harford County 501(c)3 community choir with over 100 non-auditioned members from ages 15-86. The Deer Creek Organization is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of 15 individuals who meet monthly and are responsible for the organizational, operational and fscal management of the organization. Annually, the Board of Directors examines the mission, vision and goals of the organization to assess progress and set new goals. The DCC mission, vision, and goals are centered around providing singers having all levels of choral experience with opportunities for 1) choral artistry, 2) community service, and 3) personal enrichment. In 2007, Martha Banghart, a music educator in Harford County Public Schools for more than 30 years, founded the Deer Creek Chorale with the vision of providing choral arts opportunities in the Harford County region with the intent to “Sing Locally, Give Globally”. Ms. Banghart continues to serve the organization as its artistic director. In 2017, the DCC founded the Deer Creek Youth Choir, inspiring the youngest singers from the Harford County region to develop vocal technique, music literacy, performance discipline and the ability to work with others from a variety of communities and backgrounds. Each year, the choirs choose a charitable partner for which they raise awareness and give non-financial support. Singers devote time and effort to support DCC’s service mission. The DCC also includes two smaller singing ensembles; Ebb and Flow and the Chamber Choir.
