ECLC FOUNDATION A NEW JERSEY NON PROFIT CORPORATION
Mission Statement
ECLC (Education, Careers, Lifelong Community) provides opportunities for children and adults with moderate to severe intellectual and developmental disabilities including spectrum disorders, autism and Down syndrome, as well as complicated medical issues. Our mission is to empower these individuals to achieve their maximum potential, enhance their quality of life, and assist them on their journey to live as independently as possible as happy and productive contributing adults. We operate two state-approved private schools in Chatham and Ho-Ho-Kus New Jersey, serving over 275 individuals, ages 5-21. In addition to academics, our schools provide our students with occupational, physical and speech therapies, training in activities of daily living and vocational skills, volunteer and paid work experiences, and have integrated Canine Companion Dogs, Therapy Dogs, and therapeutic riding into our curriculum. Our students have the opportunity to participate in sports, perform in plays, and go to the prom. For adults with disabilities, we offer our Community Personnel Services (CPS) and PRIDE programs. CPS, our supported employment program, provides transition and employment services to over 200 adults with developmental disabilities. They help our clients obtain and maintain employment in integrated community settings and assist them to progress in their chosen career paths and in living independently. They also provide the training and support to enable them to succeed on their jobs. ECLC’s PRIDE Program (Promoting Responsibility, Independence, Decision-making, and Employability) is an adult day and evening self-directed habilitation program for developmentally disabled individuals who are in need of continued education, training and activities opportunities. PRIDE serves over 160 clients at its Morris and Bergen County locations. The ECLC Foundation, which is based in Chatham, raises money for the ECLC schools, CPS, and PRIDE, and also operates and funds after-school and weekend recreational, social and enrichment opportunities for this population.
