MEALS ON WHEELS MONTGOMERY COUNTY

We work to enhance the quality of life for seniors by providing nutritious meals, companionship, and access to ADA compliant transportation. We like to say we offer more than just a meal to our clients and Mr. Barry's, a disabled Veteran, and MOWMC Client, story is our mission personified. Mr. Barry was living behind a Subway in Magnolia, TX. When we were made aware of his situation, our team jumped into action to help. Mr. Barry is a proud Army veteran whose disability confines him to a wheelchair. For months, and months, he was homeless, hungry, alone and afraid. Meals on Wheels Montgomery County was able to help him find temporary housing to get him off of the streets, and through volunteer donations, into a new bed. He was able to sleep laying down for the first time in a very long time. Our executive team made calls, begged for favors, and was able to get Mr. Barry into a nearby assisted living senior facility. Mr. Barry now has a safe place to call HOME. We also assisted him in his VA applications and were able to get him a hospital bed that allows him to safely and comfortably sleep. We deliver his warm, nutritious meals to him daily, and offer transportation as needed. Mr. Barry is just one of many incredible client stories. Sadly, there are many clients on our waitlist. With generous contributions and community partners, we are closer and closer to ending the wait for every disabled senior in need.
