A 501(c)3 charitable organization, the Foundation's three cornerstone programs focus on children's education, health and recreation. The Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy, in partnership with the District Government, will offer inner city youth a safe environment that encourages and enhances academic development while providing the opportunity to learn and play the game of baseball. Located in Ward 7's Fort Dupont Park, the facility's three baseball fields and clubhouse is opening in 2013. The Washington Nationals Pediatric Diabetes Care Complex at Children's National Medical Center, opening in Spring 2013, will be a world-class facility that will provide a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting families of children with diabetes. With state-of-the-art treatment rooms and a multi-functional education center, the facility will house classrooms, a media room, a demonstration kitchen, computer kiosks and various other tools to empower families battling diabetes.
