NORTHSHORE CONCERT BAND
Mission Statement
For more than fifty years The Northshore Concert Band has entertained thousands of music devotees and students through its annual concert season at Pick-Staiger and other concert venues and festivals from Europe to Canada. Launched in 1956 with just eleven band members, today’s NCB is comprised of 100 volunteer musicians from all over the Chicagoland area. You can find out more about The Northshore Concert Band and its mission at our web site: www.northshoreband.org The Northshore Concert Band is a 501(c)(3) organization whose members perform without pay. Many of us did or currently do work as professional musicians, and so we realize the benefits of a quality music education.. Part of our mission is to foster music education for the next generation. To that end, each spring we host our annual three-day Festival of Music in partnership with Northwestern University. At the Festival more than 3,000 students and educators attend clinics and master classes, culminating with a concert by NCB at Pick-Staiger. In addition, we sponsor a Lifetime of Music program. In this season’s program, fifty Chicago area junior high school music students will join NCB during the February 8 concert, providing a rewarding performance experience while exposing the students to the performance opportunities that await them beyond college, whether or not they choose to pursue music as a career. We also perform concerts at schools and community events throughout the year.
