CENTER FOR INDEPENDENCE THROUGH CONDUCTIVE EDUCATION INC
Mission Statement
The mission of the Center is to help children with physical disabilities gain independence and achieve their full potential. We do this by developing the child's life skills and motor functions in a manner that creates positive self–esteem, self–direction and an “I Can!” attitude. We are committed to improving the lives of disadvantaged, under-served children with physical disabilities, with the ultimate intention of securing a better life that includes employment and independent living skills. Since inception, more than 650 children have received approximately $12,000,000 in charitable services. No child has ever been turned away, nor have program hours been reduced due to lack of insurance or inability to pay. The Center meets all 20 Better Business Bureau of Chicago Charity standards, is rated highly by Guidestar Charity Navigator and received a 2018 Top Non-Profit Award from Philanthropedia. The Center started in 1998 in a local church providing motor training services to six children with physical disabilities. Today the Center serves over 250 children and young adults with physical disabilities per year at 3 different locations in the Chicagoland area: 100 W. Plainfield Rd., Countryside, IL 60525 (main site); 135 S. Buesching Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047; 2434 S. Kildare, Chicago, IL 60623. The Center will be opening a new site located at 3701 W. 36th Place, Chicago, IL - Brighton Park Neighborhood - to open May 2019!
