To ensure that the concept of self-government outlined by the Constitution survives and flourishes, the American people must be well informed. They need a free press to guide them in their personal decisions and in the management of their local and national communities. It is the role of journalists to provide fair, balanced and accurate information in a comprehensive, timely and understandable manner.
