Mission Statement

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is an organization of college educated women committed to the constructive development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on the Black community. The East St. Louis Alumnae Chapter has been in existence since 1942 serving the metro east community by deploying the national objectives and regional initiatives across our footprint. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization`s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust: Educational Development; Physical and Mental Health; Political Awareness and Involvement; Economic Development; International Awareness and Involvement Delta Sigma Theta - East St. Louis Alumnae Chapter aligns seamlessly with the mission of Ameren Illinois` Charitable Giving Program endeavoring to serve the residents in the footprint by striving daily to improve the lives of each and every individual directly through our programming and daily education via the Delta Child Development Center or indirectly through volunteering and sponsorships for programming and advocacy. While we apply for this grant under the heading of Civic and Community for this particular initiative, our annual programming, events and initiatives touche all causes supported by Ameren Cares, inclusive of Environment, Youth and Education, Civic and Community, Health and Human Services, Arts and Culture.
