HEARTBOUND MINISTRIES INC
Mission Statement
HeartBound Ministries breaks generational cycles of crime and incarceration by providing purposeful programming to the prison community so that incarcerated people return to their families and communities as transformed individuals. Dedicated to reshaping the prison culture from one of incarceration to one of hope and restoration, HeartBound Ministries is committed to effecting positive, systemic change within correctional facilities and communities. HeartBound provides a range of programs, including literacy initiatives, parenting classes, family reunification events, art, music, quilting, drama, horticulture, and beekeeping classes, trauma counseling, mentoring, life skills training, and a college degree program for incarcerated women. Our efforts have significantly impacted the prison system, particularly in the areas of education, art, and literacy, leading to a more rehabilitative environment. Our work has been recognized by several prestigious organizations and individuals including USA Today, Governor Nathan Deal, Georgia Natural Gas, Exelon Energy, the Georgia Council for the Arts, Oglethorpe University, and Leadership Georgia. HeartBound has also received numerous awards, such as the Georgia "Governor’s Award for the Arts and Humanities", the "Rocky Top Business Award" from The University of Tennessee, and the 2024 “Social Impact Award” from Mutual of America Financial Group.
