The North Shore Men’s Health Initiative Annual Gala Havana Day Dreaming XV is an exclusive men’s charity gala from which 100% of the proceeds are directly donated to prostate cancer research (along with other key men’s health issues ) at Northwestern University Feinberg’s School of Medicine’s research hospital. On Sunday, September 16, 2018, the 15th annual Havana Day Dreaming Cuban themed Men’s Lifestyle Gala benefitting the Urology Department at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine will take place at the Galleria Marchetti in Chicago. With the help of generous friends and supporters, we hope to make this year’s event another memorable evening and a true success, and we invite you to partner with us as one of our sponsors/donors. My fellow HDD Executive Board and committee members join me in expressing the hope that you will be inspired to support HDD, now an Endowed Fund with Northwestern, and the tireless efforts of the physicians, researchers and professors at NU in their efforts to improve treatment and diagnosis for prostate cancer and other men’s health issues.  Together, we can work to create a more promising and hopeful future for people who so bravely battle prostate cancer. The inaugural HDD diner event was organized by four charitable-minded friends who, not happy with the current offering of men’s charity events, decided to do their own with the goal of raising funds for prostate cancer research and men’s health issues.  The founding members all invited a few close friends and the evening went well with 25 attendees and contributing a modest $2,500 to cancer research at NU.  Each year the number of attendees grew, as did the amount raised for the Feinberg School of Medicine.   We now host close to 300+ men at the event, and have been fortunate, through the generosity of our sponsors, to offer incredible live & silent auction items, and host a wonderful gala to support men’s health in the Chicagoland Community. The HDD event, now the Havana Day Dreaming Endowed Fund of The North Shore Men’s Health Initiative has contributed nearly one-million dollars for prostate cancer research and other men's health issues! Unlike many charities that have heavy "administrative" costs and actually return very little to the charity, the HDD contributes ALL of its profits, after event expenses, to Northwestern University's, Feinberg School of Medicine research center.   All Executive Board & Committee members, our event co-host, Steve Stone, legendary baseball broadcaster, author and Cy Young award-winning pitcher, serve on a volunteer basis.  HDD is a tax-exempt charitable organization under sections 501(c)(3) and 170 (c) of the Internal Revenue Code.
