It Starts at Home Mission In carrying out our exempt purpose of educating children in our after-school program, we provide services to children attending our program. The service provided are certified teachers improving the academic knowledge of the children. Teacher services include helping children with their homework assigned in school, helping students get a better understanding of their academics, and educating students on new academic areas such as music, foreign language, and arts. Description of Your Activities Our charitable program is providing children a free after school program with certified teachers to educate and enhance children’s knowledge in language, music, history, math, reading, science, and other educational courses. Our program is designed for children in the ages of kindergarten through eighth grade for children struggling in various subjects. We believe that our program will help children stay off the street in the inner-city area, first beginning with inner-city Chicago. In our after-school program, the child will sit down with the teacher and review homework and the child’s day in school. The teacher and child will also work through additional related problems to check to see if the child understands the subject material and the teacher will help advance the child’s knowledge. Teachers will start working on the child’s weak subject areas and will give the option to instruct in other areas such as language, music, reading, science, and history. The criteria for selecting teachers to instruct in our after-school program will be based on selecting those who have a teacher’s certificate and also want to advance the knowledge of children. The teachers must have a teaching certificate to ensure that they are qualified to improve the knowledge of the children in our program. The criteria for accepting children into our program would be allowing inner-city children who are looking to improve their education and have a place and activity to attend after school. Our program believes in providing high quality teachers and a high-quality experience to educate our attending children in our after-school program. The standard of our activities is exceeding the criteria of the inner city school that the child is attending.
