We have two missions: First is working to change the system for those suffering from mental illness, which has included producing a documentary on the unique program to reform the way the criminal justice system deals with those suffering from serious mental illness (SMI) and taking it around the country, to discuss best practices and implement change, and cosponsoring trainings to enable first responders and family members to communicate better with those with SMI who have no insight into their brain diseases. Second is a free three week summer debate camp for public school kids in the Washington area, which this past year served nearly 200 kids from rising sixth graders through high school.
