HIGHLAND PARK SPORTS CLUB
Mission Statement
The Highland Park Sports Club is a tax-exempt organization that was initially formed in the mid-1980’s as a booster club to support the athletic programs at Highland Park High School. The club began having Monday night meetings in the cafeteria at HPHS during which the coaches of the various sports would provide team reports and interface with parents of the athletes and interested fans. Over the years, the Sports Club has assumed the role of a fund-raising organization in order to supplement the athletic budget. This fund-raising role has become the primary focus of the club since the introduction of the “Robin Hood” legislation several years ago. By law, approximately fifty percent (50%) of the tax dollars in Highland Park School District is sent to another district. The HPSC has played an increasing role in underwriting a large portion of the athletic budget each year in order to insure that each student who wishes to participate in an athletic program will have the opportunity. The Sports Club, in addition to underwriting a significant portion of the athletic budget, also purchases needed equipment for all sports.
