CHERISH OUR CHILDREN INC
Mission Statement
Cherish Our Children International is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) organization that establishes, manages, and raises funds for programs like our signature No More Victims Family program (NMV), which provides academic, emotional, physical and social support to at-risk teens in Houston's most challenging schools. For 25 years, our mission has been to develop partnerships that create sustainable solutions for the world’s most vulnerable children, especially in those cases where our assistance can help a struggling program grow and make a profound difference in the lives of children. The No More Victims Family program directly supports the teen children of incarcerated parents, with the goal of expanding our proven approach to serve more children in more schools. Additionally, we provide funding for a portfolio of international programs in Mexico, Kenya, Bosnia, and Haiti. COCI's NMV program is summed up by its motto, "Get Educated, Not Incarcerated." In 2018, NMV worked with 100 teens at Worthing, Sterling and Furr High Schools, three of the lowest-performing schools in the Houston Independent School District. Over its 20+ year history, NMV has helped more than 1600 teens graduate, develop the confidence and self-sufficiency needed to find and retain employment, and most importantly, to avoid incarceration themselves.
