POLICING EQUITY
Mission Statement
The Center for Policing Equity brings real solutions to racial bias in policing that communities want and Chief’s can get behind. Our team of #justicenerds measure justice by analyzing police department’s data on stops, arrests, and use of force. We identify the portion of this police behavior that impacts black and brown people disproportionally, and then make recommendations to eliminate these biased behaviors. We’re working to give our partners—community, advocates, and police—reminders that the values of equity and dignity must be at the core of public safety. And, when those values guide decisions we live better together. We’ve been committed to equity and inclusiveness in police departments and communities for more than 15 years. What makes us different is that we are data-driven, our recognition of race as a determinate to fair policing, and the essential partnerships we build between police departments and communities. We are committed to bridging the divide of communication, mistrust, and pervasive suffering in America, and will not stop working until disparities in policing are eradicated.
