GARDEN FARMS FOUNDATION

Garden Farms Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, dedicated to enhancing garden programming in various underserved communities as well as schools from Pre-K through college campuses all across the Las Vegas valley. We work to enrich our community with farm-to-table events, educational curriculum, environmental awareness, art integration, nutrition education, farmers markets, produce donations and more. This, paired with hands-on garden lessons, provides the people of today access to the food security of tomorrow. In a city loaded with food deserts, limited affordability and access to fresh food has been plaguing our Las Vegas communities. Identifying the need for access to fresh, healthy food, in 2010 Garden Farms of Nevada became the first Las Vegas company to begin building organic edible gardens for people's homes, schools and businesses with the mission of empowering our community to grow their own food. 288 school gardens, 457 residential gardens and 67 cooperative garden-builds later, Garden Farms has been the pioneer in teaching edible garden education to our community in addition to partnering with other garden companies to fulfill this mission of food cultivation in the desert! In 2017, heeding the call from the community to join together in bringing a variety of talents and passions to the garden setting, the Garden Farms Foundation was born. We understand that giving free food is a short-term answer to a long-term problem. By teaching people to cultivate fresh food and creating a culture around agriculture that involves culinary skills, healthy movement, art, structured outdoor learning and affordability, the access to food becomes immediate, enjoyable and most of all, secure.
