Mission Statement

Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Since 1935, Girl scouts of Southern Arizona (GSSoAz) has been fueling the female leadership pipeline by preparing girls with the skills and experiences they need to empower themselves for life. Our programs help girls develop four key G.I.R.L leadership skills: Goal-Setting, Innovating, Risk-Taking, and Leading. GSSoAz develops leaders by engaging girls in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE), a one-of-a-kind leadership program founded on four core programmatic pillars: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM); Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy; Life Skills; and Outdoor Education. Research shows that girls who participate in the GSLE benefit from five important outcomes; they are more likely than their peers to: develop a strong sense of self; display positive values; seek challenges and learn from setbacks; form and maintain healthy relationships; and be community problem solvers.
