Mission Statement
St. Michael's Veterans Center (SMVC) provides quality, affordable housing to veterans experiencing homelessness or living with a disability in the Kansas City area. Since 2014, St. Michael's Veterans Center has served over 270 formerly homeless men, women and children. Our 24-acre campus is designed to empower veterans to work toward healthy reintegration with their families and communities by providing safe, permanent housing. St. Michael’s connects veterans with the means and support necessary to achieve housing stability, long-term health and wellness, and financial stability. Our campus is a home and community where veterans can live their best lives and give back to their community. St. Michael’s Veterans Center is an independent non-profit that fulfills its mission through roles as the non-profit co-owner of the St. Michael’s Veterans Center campus and provider of social services to veterans. The SMVC campus is on a 24-acre site located at East 39th Street and Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd., just south of the VA Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. This unique campus consists of 117 affordable apartments that offer permanent housing, the SMVC Service Center from which services are delivered, and various recreational areas all together that address the needs of military veterans. In 2024, St. Michael’s Veterans began construction on the third and final phase of housing providing 62 additional affordable, permanent homes for veterans.
