CHINESE FOR AFFIRMATIVE ACTION
Mission Statement
Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA) was founded in 1969 to protect the civil and political rights of Chinese Americans and to advance multiracial democracy in the United States. Today, CAA is a progressive voice in and on behalf of the broader Asian and Pacific American community. We advocate for systemic change that protects immigrant rights, promotes language diversity, and remedies racial injustice. CAA is the fiscal sponsor of Asian Americans for Civil Rights and Equality. AACRE focuses on long-term movement building, capacity infrastructure, and leadership support for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders committed to social justice. AACRE, APEX Express, APIENC, Asian Prisoners Support Committee, Asian Refugee United, Alliance of South Asians Taking Action, Hmong’s Innovating Politics, Hyphen, Network on Religion and Justice, Stop AAPI Hate, VietUnity, and Visibility Project. Stop AAPI Hate is an initiative co-led by Chinese for Affirmative Action. Stop AAPI Hate was founded in early 2020 by Asian Policy and Planning Council (Los Angeles), the Asian American Studies Department of San Francisco State University, and Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA) as an incident reporting, media awareness, and advocacy response center to address the rise of anti-Asian racism, hate, and violence. Our approach recognizes that in order to effectively address anti-Asian racism we must work to end all forms of structural racism leveled at Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color. Stop AAPI Hate Hate is fiscally sponsored by CAA.
