Mission Statement
Inspired by its land-grant foundation, the University of Nevada, Reno provides outstanding learning, discovery, and engagement programs that serve the economic, social, environmental, and cultural needs of the citizens of Nevada, the nation, and the world. Established in May 1981, the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation is the central fundraising organization for all academic and public service programs at the University of Nevada, Reno. The Foundation is governed by a board of trustees comprised of alumni, business and community leaders and other friends of the University. As Nevada’s only land-grant institution, the University of Nevada, Reno’s mission includes providing statewide outreach to all of its citizens. Much of this outreach is done through Extension, whose mission is to discover, develop, disseminate, preserve and use knowledge to strengthen the social, economic and environmental well-being of people. As the outreach arm of the University, Extension brings information to Nevadans to solve problems and deal with critical issues related to agriculture; children, youth and families; community development; health and nutrition; horticulture; and natural resources.
