JUMA VENTURES
Mission Statement
To break the cycle of poverty by paving the way to work, education and financial capability for youth across America. A nonprofit social enterprise, Juma operates concession businesses at professional sports and entertainment venues with the purpose of providing employment and job training to low-income youth who are disconnected from the critical opportunity pathways of school and work. Alongside the job, Juma provides supportive services to help youth overcome barriers to permanent employment, build financial capability, and launch into career and education pathways. Founded in 1993 in the San Francisco Bay Area, today, Juma operates 19 concession businesses and in 2019 will employ over 1,200 youth across six U.S. markets (Houston, Atlanta, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle). Juma’s strong leadership, dedicated staff, effective service model and committed funding partners have led to numerous awards including the National Youth Employment Coalition's PEPNet Award for effective Practices and the National Organization of the Year from the Social Enterprise Alliance.
